In January of 2006, the Academy opened its doors in North York, Ontario, Canada with the intention of providing a place where former students of Master Moy can practice the arts of Tai Chi and Lokhupbafa.
We teach those arts by starting with the basic moves and postures of the set until the students can complete the set at a basic level. Then we begin to teach the set again, but in more detail, studying the patterns and methods common to all the moves. At this stage, the instruction is meant to help the student relax more deeply into the body’s internal structure, as well as open the joints and ligaments to allow circulation and energy to flow more freely. As the students progress, the instruction becomes more personal and individual, with each student being given the instruction that he or she needs at the time.
Our goal as an organization is to follow Master Moy’s vision and our Mission to the best of our ability.
In addition to regular classes, we offer workshops in Tai Chi and Lokhupbafa. Please check the News page for more information.

The Academy Symbol
A hexagram is made up of two trigrams, each made up of three lines, solid, broken, or both. The broken lines represent Yin energy, and the solid lines represent Yang energy. In this hexagram, the upper trigram represents Earth (pure Yin), and the lower trigram represents Heaven (pure Yang). Each energy has a motion associated with it.
The light, Heavenly Yang energy tends to rise while the heavy, Earthly Yin energy tends to sink. As the two energies meet and commune with one another, peace and harmony are achieved and great accomplishments become possible.
The symbol central to the Academy’s logo is called “T'ai”, with the same sound but different meaning as the “Tai” in “Tai Chi”. It is a hexagram from the 5000-year-old Taoist classic, the I Ching.
It represents peace, harmony and good will.
